Green belt development

The proposed development of a new house at Mill Lane, which Randle White Architects was commissioned to undertake in 2016, demonstrates the challenges of developing in the green belt. A technical understanding of UK planning policy is required in order to successfully navigate the various compliance procedures designed to control the scale of urban growth. 
 
Randle White Architects initially secured a lawful development certificate to establish a brownfield use on the site, before proceeding towards negotiating with Manchester Council  and finally making the necessary applications for planning permission. In order to appease local planners’ concerns, the new development actually aims to improve the existing environment by replacing the industrial unit with a modern dwelling that is respectful of the rural surroundings.
